Best apps for Android Wear:

Want to start your own YouTube Android tutorial channel or just take screencasts of your Android device? Instead of using an external camera or computer, you can easily record the screen of your device directly with a host of apps on the Play Store promising to take care of this.

I have compiled a list of six of the best screen recorders for Android. You need to be running Android Lollipop to use most of the apps, but there’s one that supports anything from Android Ice-cream Sandwich and later, although you still need root access to be able to use it.

1. SCR Screen Recorder [Root Required for Kitkat and Earlier]

This application is currently unavailable on the Google Play Store, but it has a lot of unique features, so I couldn’t leave it out. You can get the APK file from the Developer’s website. SCR supports Android 4.0 and above, although you need root access to be able to use it on Kitkat and Jellybean. In addition to recording your screen, it can record audio or even add a front-facing camera overlay, which is cool if you want to use it for YouTube videos and the like.

Price: Free

Availability: Android 4.0 and later

2. AZ Screen Recorder

Az Screen recorder supports only devices running Android Lollipop and later. It does not require root and has an option to pause and resume recording, which is very useful for making tutorial videos and such. It also has a front-facing camera overlay feature, but it requires a paid upgrade to unlock this. You can change settings like resolution, frame rate, bit rate or even feature a text message or logo along with the recorded screen cast. Audio recording is also well supported.
