Alternate Method Using Paper Forms

Paper versions of Form TX (literary works); Form VA (visual arts works); Form PA (performing arts works, including motion pictures); Form SR (sound recordings); and Form SE (single serials) are still available. The fee for a basic registration using one of these forms is $65 payable by check or money order. These paper forms are accessible on the Copyright Office website, staff will send them to you by postal mail upon request. Remember that online registration through eCO (see above) can be used for the categories of works applicable to Forms TX, VA, PA, SR, and SE.

Single Serials

Form CO is being discontinued. It will only be available until June 20, 2012. Completed Form COs must be received in the Copyright Office by July 2, 2012, to be accepted. Consequences of late receipt include delay in establishing an effective date of registration and in processing your claim, as you will be required to send an additional form and fee.

Processing Time: The time the Copyright Office requires to process an application varies, depending on the number of applications the Office is receiving and clearing at the time of submission and the extent of questions associated with the application.
